Der Band bietet Studierenden einschlägige Grundlagentexte und eine wissenschaftliche Einführung in die wichtigsten Begriffe der Kindheitspädagogik. Dabei sollen die im Studienbuch aufgeführten Texte die Studierenden für theoretisch fundiertes, kritisch-reflexives Denken, Diskutieren und Handeln im Bereich der Pädagogik der frühen Kindheit sensibilisieren. Didaktisch verbindet die Publikation analoges Lernen im Seminarkontext (Kontaktzeit) mit Selbstlernphasen im digitalen Raum (Selbststudium) und ist von der inhaltlichen Architektur an den Semesterverlauf angepasst, sodass sie optimal als semesterbegleitendes Lehr- und Lernbuch einsetzbar ist.
